چکیده
Waterjet guided laser (WJGL) cutting is a relatively new technology for high-precision machining of difficult-to-cut materials. However, its material removal mechanism presents some unique features because the interaction between laser, waterjet and workpiece. This paper investigates surface formation in WJGL Ni-based superalloy influence on fatigue performance. Two different microstructures have been found layer, i.e. recast crystals redeposited amorphous oxide, resulting from solidification melt plasma respectively under laser-waterjet interaction. Mechanical twinning structures were also revealed substrate due to confined shockwave impact.

Formation mechanism of silicon modified aluminide coating applied on a nickel base super alloy IN-738 LC by pack cementation process was the subject of investigation in this research. Study of the microstructure and compositions of the coating was carried out, using optical and scanning electron microscopes, EDS and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The results showed that due to low partial ...
متن کاملSurface Texture in Abrasive Waterjet Cutting
When cutting thick material with an abrasive wateriet, the surface area can be characterized by two texture types. At the top of the cut, the surface texture is smooth. At the bottom, the slurry jet exiting the workpiece forms large striations in the surface. An investigation was conducted to experimentafly determine the influence of the abrasive waterjet cutting parameters on surface texture. ...
متن کاملExamination of average surface roughness in waterjet cutting
Waterjet cutting is a non-conventional cutting technology. Important criteria of the cut surface are geometric accuracy and surface roughness. The aim of this paper is to provide predictive models to estimate average surface roughness (Ra), taking into account significant effects. Full factorial design of experiments were used in the waterjet cutting tests. The input parameters were plate thick...

متن کاملA synchrotron study of microstructure gradient in laser additively formed epitaxial Ni-based superalloy
Laser additive forming is considered to be one of the promising techniques to repair single crystal Ni-based superalloy parts to extend their life and reduce the cost. Preservation of the single crystalline nature and prevention of thermal mechanical failure are two of the most essential issues for the application of this technique. Here we employ synchrotron X-ray microdiffraction to evaluate ...
